Sam had to admit: she was a bit surprised when she got a call saying that the Alliance could use her technical help on a navigation system in a lab a few decades from now and in London.

Good surprised, though. It was nice to feel like she could make herself useful for things besides conducting unpleasant phone calls with disgruntled Portalocity customers. No sooner had she ended the call than did Sam hurry up to her bedroom and begin putting together a bag. Obviously, she could leave whenever she pleased and still get there on time, but she was eager to tackle this project and get away from the mundanity of her desk job here for a while. The promise of a task to complete that didn't bore her to such a tremendous extent that she often found herself playing chess at her desk -- well, it was appealing, to say the least.
